Sprains and strains account for an estimated 20 – 30% of all sports injuries.
Sprain and strains are very common injuries, particularly within the sporting population. A sprain is when a ligament is been damaged and strain is when a muscle and/ or ligament is damaged. There are three levels of severities with sprain and strains, those being grade I (mild), grade 2 (moderate) and grade 3 (complete rupture). Physiotherapists are expertly trained in diagnosis of these injuries and this is highly important as it allows us to specifically tailor a rehabilitation program and prevent re-injury.
